1. Continuous film lubrication.
The SHAFT SAVER design offers an uninterrupted, lubricating film of
water under all loads.

2. Expels sand and  grit before damage occurs.
Centrifugal pressures are set up within the bearing and released with
every revolution of the shaft. With its release, all abrasive elements
are flushed out directly through water and sandways before scoring takes
place. Renewal of shaft or shaft sleeves due to scored surfaces is
eliminated.

3. Withstands heavy bearing loading.
The heavier the bearing load, the more efficiently the SHAFT SAVER
bearing operates; it automatically builds internal pressure as loads
increase.

4. Retards slow speed wear.
The rotary rubber journal is provided with slow speed water grooves that
continually bathe bearing surfaces after normal build-up of water film
breaks down.

5. Very low coefficient of friction.
The coefficient of friction is far below normal due to the introduction
of an uninterrupted water film.

6. 30% to 120% more bearing area.
By adopting a rotating journal, the SHAFT SAVER bearing increases actual
bearing areas from 30 to 120 percent (in square inches) over stationary
bearings.

7. Maximum wear distribution.
Conventional marine bearings wear only on the bottom half of the
bearing. Our revolving rotor offers a true 360¡ wearing area.

8. Increased shaft speed.
Regardless of the amount of load, the SHAFT SAVER actually “floats” the
shaft on multiple layers of water. A higher shaft speed can be obtained
with the same power applied.

9. Quieter operation.
The SHAFT SAVER is silent under all load and speed conditions due to
its soft rubber journal and multiple-layer lubrication.

10. Maximum shock absorption.
Striking of below-surface objects has far less damaging effects on
shafting and gear reduction units due to the SHAFT SAVER'S ability to
absorb a great part of the initial impact.

11. Dampens shaft oscillations at critical engine speeds.
Critical engine speed stern vibration is minimized because every
vibration is doubly cushioned by an unbreakable water film and soft
rubber.

12. Interchangeable with other standard bearings.
The SHAFT SAVER bearings are interchangeable with all other standard
bore and length bearings.

13. Negligible moisture absorption.
High-quality compounds make the rubber journal resistant to moisture
expansion.

14. Simplicity of installation and removal.
The SHAFT SAVER bearing is locked to the shaft by simply turning two
eccentric locking collars a quarter turn. Reverse the operation to
remove them. The actual locking operation requires seconds; no special
boring or fitting operations are required.

15. Lowest possible maintenance cost.
The SHAFT SAVER bearing completely eliminates renewing or replacing prop
shafts due to bearing wear. The SHAFT SAVER bearing outwears other
bearings by a wide margin. Because of these features, it will reduce time consumed in dry doc for shaft repair or bearing renewal. The SHAFT SAVER bearing sets a new
standard for low-levels of maintenance costs.

16. Confidently used under adverse conditions.
The SHAFT SAVER bearing is effective in shallow water, under heavy load
conditions and where frequent shaft inspections must be reduced or
eliminated.

17. Lowest overall wear rate.
Laboratory tests conclusively prove that the SHAFT SAVER bearing will,
as a complete unit, and when tested under heavy sand conditions, outlast
other bearings — at a rate of three to twelve times. The tests referred
to shaft rate combined with rubber wear.

18. Adapted to high-speed shafting.
Speed boats operate at incredibly high shaft speeds — causing shafting
to ride “off center” in direction of rotation. The SHAFT SAVER bearing
is designed to permit a change in high-speed shaft positions from 0¡ to
135¡, thus retaining full efficiency throughout the entire top speed
range.

19. Rubber retards wear to new low limits.
Our special wear-resisting compounds will outlast numerous other
materials by incredible ratios.

20. No shaft wear.
Because the SHAFT SAVER bearing is attached to, and revolves with the
shaft, there can be no shaft wear.
