| 1. Continuous film lubrication. The SHAFT SAVER design offers an uninterrupted, lubricating film of water under all loads. Back To Top 2. Expels sand and grit before damage occurs. Centrifugal pressures are set up within the bearing and released with every revolution of the shaft. With its release, all abrasive elements are flushed out directly through water and sandways before scoring takes place. Renewal of shaft or shaft sleeves due to scored surfaces is eliminated. Back To Top 3. Withstands heavy bearing loading. The heavier the bearing load, the more efficiently the SHAFT SAVER bearing operates; it automatically builds internal pressure as loads increase. Back To Top 4. Retards slow speed wear. The rotary rubber journal is provided with slow speed water grooves that continually bathe bearing surfaces after normal build-up of water film breaks down. Back To Top 5. Very low coefficient of friction. The coefficient of friction is far below normal due to the introduction of an uninterrupted water film. Back To Top 6. 30% to 120% more bearing area. By adopting a rotating journal, the SHAFT SAVER bearing increases actual bearing areas from 30 to 120 percent (in square inches) over stationary bearings. Back To Top 7. Maximum wear distribution. Conventional marine bearings wear only on the bottom half of the bearing. Our revolving rotor offers a true 360¡ wearing area. Back To Top 8. Increased shaft speed. Regardless of the amount of load, the SHAFT SAVER actually floats the shaft on multiple layers of water. A higher shaft speed can be obtained with the same power applied. Back To Top 9. Quieter operation. The SHAFT SAVER is silent under all load and speed conditions due to its soft rubber journal and multiple-layer lubrication. Back To Top 10. Maximum shock absorption. Striking of below-surface objects has far less damaging effects on shafting and gear reduction units due to the SHAFT SAVER'S ability to absorb a great part of the initial impact. Back To Top 11. Dampens shaft oscillations at critical engine speeds.
